VJU im Energiebunker
- a breathtaking view from Hamburger Süden to Michel
Step inside the VJU in the Energy Bunker, in the middle of Wilhelmsburg; you can hire this location for your private or business event. The Energy Bunker is a project by the International Building Exhibition, the IBA Hamburg. Built in 1943 as an air raid shelter, the space offered thousands of people protection from Allied bombers. The interior was blown up by British forces in 1947, and for over 60 years the structure remained disused. Now it has been renovated by the IBA Hamburg as a listed building and transformed into a regenerative power station with heat storage facilities. By using the bunker in such an innovative fashion an important milestone on the road to sustainable energy supply has been reached on Elbe Island.
